The Arab Families Working Group carried out a Research to Policy workshop in Barcelona in July 2010. The workshop focused on discussing and developing strategies for transforming AFWG’s research into policy outreach projects in Egypt, Lebanon, and Palestine. Lina Abou-Habib (Center for Research, Training, and Development, Beirut) and Simel Esim (International Labor Organization, Beirut) participated as consultants in the workshop to exchange ideas and experiences. Jennifer Klot (Social Science Research Council, New York City) discussed other regional experiences. Rawwida Baksh (International Development Research Center, Ottawa), program officer for the International Development Research Center in Ottawa, which funded the workshop, joined the conversation. The workshop was organized by Suad Joseph (AFWG Founder and Coordinator) and Barbara Ibrahim (AFWG Core Group member). The workshop was held in conjunction with the WOCMES conference in Barcelona.
